A Blanket

A piece of cloth or two (or more depending) sewn together, thrown on a bed...It seems so simple, doesn't it? But not when a grandma makes it...then it's so much more.

Tonight as I snuggled in with my sweet one, she started to kick all the covers off, and only wanted "the flowers" on, and her "cozy"...that's when it hit me, in that stillness...both of these blankets were made by my grandmothers. "Flowers" was made for me many moons ago by my "Regular" Grandma* and was my favorite...it kept me warm and cool all at the same time. "Cozy" was made especially for the Squirt when she was newly with us because Great Gram thought she needed a cozy blanket to snuggle.

So tonight as sleep came over my girl not only was she warm, but also blanketed in love...a love of one grandma I'm so happy she gets to experience and another she will only know through her mother's own quirkiness. A blanket may be just cloth to some...but some cloth is so much more.

P.S. As I sit here writing this all down, another thing has dawned on me...my girl has 3 grandmas too...2 "Regulars" and a Great...lucky girl.

*I was lucky enough to have had 3 grandmothers growing up, so to differentiate them they had different names, which I gave them...and "Regular" was anything but...which is another post in itself.

A Dazzlin' Day

As tradition* would have it, the day after Thanksgiving we all go Downtown to watch the Holidazzle Parade. And every year G-Mama says, "I'd LOVE to be in the parade."

Well this year she and Bopa got their chance!

T-Daddy, CiBaby and I got all bundled up, drove to the light rail station and hopped on the train, which of course is an adventure in and of itself. G-Mama kept calling us to see where we were in transit. We made it just in time for the parade to start...at the other end from where we were!

Finally the parade started, and couple of dashes inside to use the potty, we got our chance to see the dynamic duo!!!

While Bopa will tell you that he did it just for G-Mama, we all know he had a good time too.

*Okay, so it's only the second year with CiBaby, but you

Happy Birthday G-Mama!

Today we had the pleasure of accompanying G-Mama on her birthday fun. Our first stop was our local zoo. CiBaby and G-Mama visit there often and CiBaby knows exactly what she wants to see.

We saw lots of beautiful butterflies. That huge one in the second picture is actually a moth, but gigantic and beautiful none-the-less. When CiBaby was told that she couldn't chase, touch or blow on the butterflies, she was done. Although she did stop to wave "hello" to a few.

We also road the antique carousel. You will notice that CiBaby is not smiling much because she really wanted to ride on the horse all by herself.

And G-Mama was the winner of a lick of CiBaby's sucker (I didn't get one because it wasn't my birthday!)

We also had lunch at a great local restaurant, did a little fabric shopping, visited the new TJs close to home (YAY!!!), cooked dinner and dipped our toes into the nice, cool pool. It was a great day.

Happy Birthday, Mom. I love you.
