CiBaby has been very into jigsaw puzzles lately, so a couple of weeks ago while T-Daddy was away on business in Dubai we found a pack of 3 Beatrix Potter puzzles for sale at the GW for $0.99. CiBaby LOVES them. The first night we stayed up way too late building puzzles over and over. At one point that night, sitting at the coffee table, CiBaby with a cup of juice and I with mine,* CiBaby said to me, "Put down your wine and build a puzzle!" Uuhhh okay.
This morning, with juice and coffee, we sat around the same coffee table building the same puzzle, Mr. Jeremy Fisher. We've been working very hard at matching up shapes, patterns and colors. Well this morning at one point she attached his head to his knee...got the color pattern right, but...and I said, "Honey, you are close. It's part of his body but his head and knee don't go together." At which point she says to me, "Why you be so sassy?"
Let's just say it was hard to keep my composure, and I think I even let out a giggle.

A morning at the market
This morning I had my first go round of the year at a Q&A table answering gardening questions.*
I love this time of the year. The hustle and bustle of the market. The flowers, the veggies, the sights, sounds and smells. And the people. I love the people. There are your Average Joes and Janes, burb dwellers, urban folks, your very "outside the box" people, kids and babies. But my favorite people are the farmers. I love leisurely strolling the aisles and looking to see whose new and whose back for another season. Thinking back to what I bought from each stand last year, what creation I came up with and what I'm going to do this year.
There's just something about it. Call me nostalgic, call me old fashioned, call me a farm-girl at heart (but born and raised in the city), but to me there's nothing better than soaking in and utilizing all of the sustainability that our city has to offer. It's just really cool.
*It was fabulous, by the way. Of course I didn't know every answer to every question, but knowing where to look or where to send the question-asker for the answer is almost as good.

I fought the steps...
Thankfully, after a lot of CzaMama Concussion Observation,
T-Daddy Cuddling and Big Sister Snuggling,
CiBaby is much better, albeit pretty rough looking.
Bopa always says that CiBaby should have a "play helmet,"
I think he may be onto something.
Definitely a memoriable Memorial Day.
*said steps have been "eliminated" and climber
has been moved to a softer location

I'm too sassy...
(as sung to the tune of I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred)
for a shirt
so what I'm wearing is two skirts*
so sassy it hurts
I'm a toddler you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the sidewalk
Yeah on the sidewalk on the sidewalk yeah
I do my little turn on the sidewalk
*Second skirt shown here. Doesn't everyone need a purple
tutu with sequins on under all of their clothes?

**If the question has ever entered your mind, yes, she completely dressed herself today.

The irony of it all
While I completely understand why it is, it doesn't stop me from thinking it ironic. Ask any loving mother what they want most of all for Mother's Day and you will hear a lot of..."I just want some time to myself." "To do what I want." "To relax." Hehe
Wishing you all a little peace and quiet. Happy Mother's Day to some of the hardiest working people on the planet.
P.S. As I didn't get any of the aforementioned activities today (except to be able to eat lunch sitting) I will be enjoying a long soak in my wonderful tub once the wee one is down for her sleep.
P.S.S. Don't worry, I will be filling in the blanks of the blog...now that I have a couple of spare minutes. HA! More to come.
